"Qul-Khawani" of former Federal Minister for Population Welfare, a renowned parliamentarian Begum Nadira Khakwani was held here on Monday. "Qul-Khawani" was largely attended by politicians, lawyers, agriculturists, Office-bearers of PPPP, PML-N and United Muslim League. Begum Nadira Khakwani has joined PPP in 1967. She was appointed Vice-President of PPP Punjab (Women wing) in 1972, in 1976 she was elevated to President of PPP Punjab.

She was elected as MNA on special seat for woman and then she was inducted in Federal Cabinet as Minister for Population Welfare. She was elected Senator in 1993. General Zia-ul-Haq forced her to join Majlis-e-Shoora but she refused. Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Begum Nusrat Bhutto ever stayed at her home whenever they visited Multan.
